We help seniors & their families navigate aging issues
Carmen and I found seniors most concerned about two categories of housing emergencies in our research. One is the ability to stay in one’s home. Two are the alternative to staying in my own home.
Most seniors think staying in their own homes is their best option. They also think it’s the cheapest option. Often the senior has paid down or paid off their mortgage. Many believe this means their house is free. This is not true. There are lots of costs associated with staying in your own home. We examine the real costs of staying in one’s own home in this Section.
Alternatives to staying in one’s own home are many. Some are really good; others aren’t. But most seniors don’t know what these options are or how to explore them. Seniors that spend time before needing new housing options have a better chance of liking their options.
